CBS Mess Up

I'm sure most of you have heard about the major screw up that CBS has committed with their latest reporting on Benghazi. CBS has a very respected name in news reporting but unfortunately they have tainted that name quite a bit with this latest reporting. It is vastly unfortunate that they did not double check their sources. Do y'all think this happened because they were trying to make a political point? Or was it careless errors by the producers?

Here's another possible problem:

  1. More than a political point, economics and business interests seem to have been somewhat at play here. The book that was being published was by Simon & Schuster, a division of CBS, so the interview was almost a promotion for the book. The problem stems from the book, not the interview. The interview just provided a synopsis of the book. Aside from the book issue, yes, I think this whole travesty was a result of carelessness by the producers. This is not surprising though. The US government was duped by an equally persuasive informant before it went into Iraq (http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/iraq/complete/la-na-curveball20nov20,0,7743996.story#axzz2ktGw6YlO).
